The Whole 30 has changed my life and the way I look at my diet tremendously. I used to have very little energy and not much drive to do anything outside my normal day to day routine, but not now. I used to wake up tired or if not tired in a few hours I would feel tired. After a few days on the Whole 30 diet I noticed I was wide awake all day long with very little to no down time. I no longer wanted a cup of coffee or candy bar to help make it through the day.
My sleep schedule has changed for the better also. It seems like my internal alarm clock has reset itself. Before the Whole 30 I would try and go to bed around the same time every night but a lot of times I wouldn’t go to sleep right away. I would toss and turn for a while before finally falling asleep and hour or so later. Now I fall asleep within a few minutes of lying down. I can sleep all night long and wake up refreshed and usually before my alarm clock wakes me.
Before the Whole 30 I had problems with acid reflux. After day four I had very little to no heart burn. The only time I seem to have heart burn is when I make a not so wise choice on the quality of food that I put into my body.
I knew my diet was the reason why I haven’t made improvements on some of my fitness goals, but I didn’t realize how much of an impact it has on your body. The Whole 30 made me realize how much junk I really eat and how much that affects everything I do. Like the old saying goes, “You are what you eat” there is definitely some truth behind that.
